This Privacy Policy explains how DebatePro ("DebatePro," "we," "us," "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Services").

This Policy applies to your use of DebatePro's consumer Services. Our Services may link to features or sites operated by others; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal data in the following ways:

A. Information You Provide

  • Account/Registration: email, password, display name (if provided).
  • Support & Communications: information you send us (e.g., messages to support@practicedebate.ai).
  • Billing (if/when applicable): limited payment details handled by our payment processor (we don't store full card numbers).

B. Information We Receive From Others

Login providers (optional): if you sign in with a third-party identity provider, we may receive your name, email, and profile image.

C. Information We Collect Automatically

  • Usage data: timestamps, features used, in-app actions.
  • Device/technical data: IP address, browser type/version, OS, language, crash logs.
  • Cookies/storage: essential cookies or local storage (e.g., Supabase Auth tokens) to keep you signed in and secure your session. No advertising cookies are used.

D. Information We Create or Derive

  • Audio Recordings & Transcripts: If you choose to record debate sessions, we collect and store the audio and automatically generated transcripts. These are processed to provide you with personalized feedback and analytics on your performance.
  • Service analytics: derived metrics such as word counts, pacing, filler words, and delivery insights to generate debate feedback.

We may aggregate or de-identify data; aggregated/de-identified data is not subject to this Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use personal data to:

  • Provide & operate the Services (including generating transcripts and personalized debate feedback).
  • Improve the Services (e.g., refining our feedback models).
  • Communicate with you (service notices, support, billing-related).
  • Security & fraud prevention (detect, investigate, prevent misuse).
  • Legal & compliance (comply with law, enforce Terms of Service).

What we don't do: We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your audio or transcripts for advertising.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal data only as needed to operate the Service:

  • Service Providers (processors): e.g., hosting, authentication (Supabase), transcription/analysis, email delivery, payment processing. These providers process data on our behalf.
  • Legal/Compliance: to comply with valid legal process, protect users, our rights, or the security of the Services.
  • Business transfers: in case of a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction.

We do not sell personal data or share recordings with advertisers.

5. Your Choices & Controls

  • Access/Update: You can update account info in-app or by emailing support@practicedebate.ai.
  • Deletion of Recordings & Transcripts: You may request deletion of your recordings, transcripts, or account by emailing support@practicedebate.ai. (We may retain minimal information if required by law or security obligations.)
  • Email preferences: You can opt out of non-essential emails via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.

6. Children

The Services are intended for users 13 years and older. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with parent/guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including stored recordings and transcripts. No system is 100% secure. We will notify you of security incidents as required by law.

8. Data Retention

  • Audio recordings & transcripts: retained until you delete them or your account, unless a longer period is required by law or for security reasons.
  • Account data: retained while your account is active.
  • Other personal data: retained only as long as necessary to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.

9. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We currently use only essential cookies/local storage to operate the Service (e.g., keep you logged in). We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. Disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll post updates with a new "Effective" date. Continued use of the Service after updates indicates acceptance.
